Why is a functional thumb stud crucial?

The thumb stud is not just an accessory; it's the primary interface between you and the blade of your C.A.C.® knife. It is specifically designed to allow rapid, reliable, and secure deployment of the blade with the thumb, using only one hand. Whether in an emergency, during an operation, or for manual work, losing this capability makes the knife less effective and slower to use. A thumb stud in perfect condition is therefore essential to ensure the full tactical and practical performance of your C.A.C.®.

What are the technical characteristics of this kit?

This kit consists of the two elements that form the thumb stud screwed onto the C.A.C.® blade. Each piece is precisely machined to perfectly match the original specifications.

  • 1 x Female thumb stud: The base of the thumb stud, positioned on one side of the blade.
  • 1 x Male thumb stud: The threaded part that screws into the female stud, ensuring a robust tightening of the assembly through the blade.
  • Finish: Designed with an anti-reflective black finish, in harmony with the other elements of the C.A.C.® knife.

What are the strengths of this product?

  • Restored ergonomics: Regain the grip and one-handed opening ease that are the hallmarks of the C.A.C.®.
  • Rapid deployment: A functional thumb stud is key to quick and controlled opening, essential in many situations.
  • Guaranteed original parts: Only official TB Outdoor parts ensure a perfect fit, and identical color and texture to the original.
  • Simple and quick repair: Replacing the thumb stud is a simple maintenance operation that you can perform yourself in a few minutes.

How to use this product?

Replacing the thumb stud on your C.A.C.® knife is a simple procedure.

  1. Prepare the knife: Ensure the knife is securely closed. If any remnants of the old thumb stud are present, unscrew them using the appropriate tool (usually a Torx key).
  2. Clean the area: Wipe the hole on the blade to remove any dirt or residue.
  3. Position the base: Insert the unthreaded part (female stud) into the blade's hole.
  4. Screw the other part: From the other side of the blade, hand-screw the threaded part (male stud) into the base.
  5. Tighten firmly: Use your tool to complete the tightening. Tighten firmly but without over-tightening to avoid damaging the thread.

Pro tip: For a durable fixation, especially if you use your knife intensively, you can apply a small drop of low to medium strength threadlocker to the male stud's thread before screwing it in.
