Roots and Modernity: The Saga of TB Outdoor Knives

Racines et Modernité : L'Épopée des Couteaux TB Outdoor
The history of TB Outdoor (formerly Tarrerias-Bonjean) dates back to 1648, anchoring the company in a long cutlery tradition in the Thiers region of France. TB's expertise in manufacturing high-quality cutlery has been recognized for centuries. A major turning point in the company's history occurred in 1996, when TB began collaborating with the French army to develop tools for military use. The Bivouac® model was the first to meet the army's requirements, becoming the standard knife for soldiers from 1996 to 2001. It was later replaced by the Baroudeur® from 2001 to 2017, and then by the Protecteur®, a symmetrical-edged dagger selected to equip the Army Light Aviation personnel. In 2018, the C.A.C® (Combat Assistance Campagne), developed with the participation of military expert Philippe Perotti, succeeded the famous Baroudeur®, confirming TB's continued commitment to the Ministry of Defense for the supply of reliable and robust field knives. This historical collaboration with the French army testifies to TB Outdoor's ability to combine tradition and innovation, developing knives that meet the specific needs of professionals while preserving a heritage of French quality and know-how.
