What is the history of the French Army knives by TB Outdoor?
How has our engagement with the army evolved?
Our partnership with the French Army began in 1996. Since then, the evolution of our knives reflects a constant adaptation to operational requirements. We rely on invaluable feedback from the field. Each new model brings optimizations, making our tools ever more effective and reliable for our soldiers.
What are the iconic models that have marked this history?
The Bivouac®: What was the first regulation knife? (1996-2001)
The Bivouac® is the very first regulation knife we supplied to the French Army. It symbolizes an era when robustness and simplicity were paramount. Today, it remains the perfect tool for hikers and campers.
The Baroudeur®: Which successor for which theaters of operation? (2001-2017)
The Baroudeur® succeeded the Bivouac® and accompanied our soldiers on numerous deployments. Veterans' accounts demonstrate just how vital these tools can be. This model is no longer manufactured. The last remaining examples will soon become collector's items.
The CAC®: How did the current benchmark come about? (2018-Present)
The CAC® (Combat Assistance Campaign) entered official service in 2018. It represents the culmination of decades of innovation and is considered one of the best military knives in the world. Its development involved expert Philippe Perotti , a former special forces member, ensuring an uncompromising design.
The Protector®: Which dagger for the Army's aviation?
The Protecteur® is a fixed, double-edged knife. It was specifically selected to equip the personnel of the French Army Light Aviation (ALAT) . Its reliability in extreme conditions makes it a trusted tool for pilots and mechanics.
The Avenger®: Why is this dagger so special?
The Le Vengeur® dagger was also developed for the French Army Light Aviation (ALAT). It meets military specifications just as stringent as the Protecteur®. Although it wasn't selected for official issue, we were so proud of this creation that we decided to market it to the general public.
